‘Man Plant’
My quiet afternoon watching a dvd was gently interrupted
‘Paul, your house is too masculine!’
‘what?’
‘It’s all too clean and empty apart from your laptop, your books and your gadgets, you need to soften the edges, its all to male!’
‘but I am man and its my house! I have sons who stay and I like my gadgets, anyway its called minimalism’ I replied smiling, still watching the TV
‘you should paint more colours on the wall’
‘nope!’
‘maybe you should get some candles or scented oils?’
‘nope’
‘flowers maybe flowers then or a plant you like taking pictures of flowers, you have room over there or in that corner, they would look nice’
‘nope! Im not getting candles, scented or unscented, pot pourri, glass pebbles in a dish or incense sticks sitting in sand, flowery wallpaper or lots of cushions to scatter either’
‘oh OK just a suggestion’
The afternoon continued quietly on as I watched the end of my film, but I kept looking around and maybe just maybe it did need something……..so I bought a ‘man plant’, my little tree thats sits near the telly that I talk to everyday and maybe just maybe the room has changed, softened a little, but I’m not getting any candles….well not just yet ha ha :)
